Como saber o seu tipo de pele

How to know your skin type

Posted by Keilla Kalli on

Before starting any self-care routine or treatment for your skin, you need to know it. This is because it has specific characteristics and needs and needs products developed with the appropriate ingredients. Using the right product is what brings effective results and prevents unexpected effects from appearing.

Do you have the slightest idea what your skin type is? Do not freak out! We're here to help you find out :)

Dry, oily, normal or mixed.

According to the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD), there are 4 basic types of skin: dry, oily, normal and combination. Factors such as genetics, climate, hormones, lifestyle and medications can determine your skin type or influence any changes in the dermis.

The ideal is to consult a dermatologist, who will classify and diagnose any problem that your skin presents. But there are some aspects that you can observe yourself to identify.

Discovering your skin type…

Before we start, the ideal is for you to remove any product you have applied (makeup, sunscreen, moisturizer, etc.). Then try to spend an hour on average without touching your face.

Now let's make some observations:

Is your skin shiny or dull? Are the pores very dilated and visible?

As for the texture, does it feel rough? When you touch your face, is it greasy or dry?

These combined aspects are typical for each skin type:

Normal skin:

The most desired skin because it is balanced. It is neither dry nor oily, meaning there are no problems such as lack of hydration or excessive sebum in the dermis. It has a natural appearance, with moderate shine, velvety touch and the pores are small or barely evident.

Despite looking like “perfect skin”, it also needs care such as hydration and especially sun protection.

Missha All Around Safe Block Soft Finish Sun Milk from Missha is a refreshing sunscreen that tones the skin naturally, while providing protection with naturally derived ingredients.

Dry skin:

This type of skin does not produce enough sebum, nor can it retain the necessary amount of water, resulting in dehydration. It is rough to the touch, lacks shine and has little elasticity. It is common for the face to become sensitive and experience problems such as irritation and peeling.

Unfortunately, dry skin tends to present expression lines (wrinkles) early, but this aspect can be overcome if treated early with the help of products such as Cosrx's Advanced Snail 92 All in one Cream , a gel moisturizer that contains mucus filtrate snail oil to help soothe sensitive skin and hydrate.

Oily skin:

It is the easiest skin to identify and also one of the least desired. Oily skin produces more sebum than necessary, which makes it look greasy. She has very enlarged pores and has a lot of shine all over her face (T-zone and cheeks). Using foundations and concealers can also be uncomfortable for those with this type of skin, as they tend to “melt” the makeup.

Oiliness increases the chances of accumulation of secretions in the pores of the dermis, which is why this skin is prone to acne (pimples) and blackheads.

AC Clean Up Pink Powder Spot is an acne treatment solution that helps reduce and improve the appearance of the spot without irritating the skin. It contains 100% cypress water instead of purified water and contains tea tree oil essential oil, with pink calamine that reduces itching for an antibacterial effect.

Mixed skin:

Combination skin is a mixture of dry skin and oily skin. The T-zone of the face is dry and the cheeks are oily. Although it may seem impossible, there are products that can balance this skin and leave it uniform and healthy.

A good solution for controlling oiliness in combination skin is our Oil Control Paper absorbent sheets from Innisfre . Which can be placed on specific areas of the face.  They are made from Korean paper extracted from mulberry trees and effectively absorb excess sebum.

I discovered my skin type! And now?

There are several factors that affect the appearance of your skin: genetics, climate, substances, ingredients, hormonal changes, medications, lifestyle, etc. But regardless of what it is or is, there are ways to make it beautiful and healthy.

1) Drink lots of water!

One of the simplest and most important things is to drink lots of water, as the skin is our largest organ and needs to be hydrated to avoid the emergence of various problems.

2) Take good care of yourself!

Establishing a self-care routine, paying attention to your skin and using the appropriate products is the way to guarantee the health and, consequently, beauty of your skin.

Were you able to identify your skin type?

Tell us what it is :)
