Do you know Double Cleansing?

You've probably heard that one of the main differences in the Korean skincare routine is double cleansing. At first you might think that this means applying the cleaning product twice, but in reality double cleaning is a process that involves two steps with the application of different products.

The first is done with an oil-based cleanser (cleansing oil) and the second with a water-based cleanser (cleansing water). Let's explain the importance and difference between them, for truly clean skin and prepared for the next steps :)

Step 1 - Oil-Based Cleansing (Cleansing Oil)

There are several types of residue that accumulate on your skin throughout the day, such as makeup, sunscreen, oil (sebum) and pollution, each with specific properties. Since water and oil repel each other, the first step should be done with an oil-based cleanser, which will efficiently remove greasy residue from the skin, such as makeup and excess sebum. They can come in liquid (cleansing oil) or solid (cleansing balm) form.

Using these products helps to considerably reduce blackheads and pimples, as they clean the pores. It is also beneficial for sensitive skin, which can be irritated by the friction of traditional makeup removers applied with cotton wool (makeup removers).

Stage 1 Steps 

1- Apply Cleansing Oil to dry skin and massage to dissolve oily residues from your skin.

2- Wet your hands and repeat the massage to emulsify the product.

3 - Rinse well so that there is no oily residue left on the skin.

Step 2 - Cleansing Water

If we have already cleansed the skin, why do a second step?

As we said, there are several types of waste that lodge in the dermis. While the cleansing oil will remove excess sebum, makeup and sunscreen, the cleansing water will be effective in removing other types of substances such as pollution, bacteria and dead cells, ensuring that your face is truly clean. These products can be presented in gels, foams, bars, etc. This step ensures that your skin is free of unwanted substances and that your pores are unclogged, ready to receive the products from the following steps in your routine.
