The 10-step Korean skincare routine has become known for its plethora of products and treatments, like toners, essences, serums, and ampoules, that play essential roles in the regimen.
So, what would be the difference between Essence, Serum and Ampoule?
All three have a lighter formulation than lotion or cream, so it's best to apply it before using a relatively oily lotion or cream.
It is a functional cosmetic that concentrates ingredients such as moisturizing, whitening, improving wrinkles, elasticity, nutrition, etc., which helps intensive skin care than cream or lotion.
1. Essence
First, essence is the lightest concentrated product of a given ingredient. For example, if you need brighter skin tones, you can choose those with names like brightening etc.
If you are concerned about your skin's elasticity, you can choose products that contain words such as lifting, anti-wrinkle and anti-aging.
Use the toner before the essence to cleanse the residue remaining on the skin after cleansing.
2. Serum
Serums are almost identical in concept to essences. However, there is a tendency to make the concentration of ingredients thicker than the essence, so the image of intensive therapy is stronger.
They are more viscous than essences and contain ingredients weak to heat and sunlight and are placed in opaque containers.
3. Ampoules
Ampoules contain the highest concentration of ingredients for a specific purpose, helping to achieve the fastest effect in a short time.
They are produced in small quantities or sold at higher prices than essences and serums. It is divided into several small containers or droppers for easy removal.
You can mix it with your usual lotion or cream and apply it or use it separately.
As all of these products have a light formulation and quick absorption, it is best to apply them quickly to your fingertips or drop them onto your face rather than your palm.
